Glance at a Golden Week 10.21-10.25

Bitmoji ImageThis Monday, October 28th is a Half Day. Dismissal begins at 11:00 am. We have an exciting STEAM Day ahead of us!

A LOOK INTO ROOM 8:

Reading- We continued our study of predictions in fiction and nonfiction text. Our main focus this week was to be sure to include the reasoning behind our prediction, as well as confirming/adjusting our predictions after reading. Writing- This week we chose an idea and turned it into a story. Students then had the chance to share their stories in our Author’s Chair! After sharing, we asked questions and complimented the author’s work. We enjoyed hearing everyone’s creativity! Math- This week students began comparing pairs of two digit numbers. Students learned the meaning of > (greater than),< (less than), and (equal to). We danced to Hollabaloo to learn the difference between the 3 symbols. Using our knowledge of place value, we located the first digit in the number to help us determine which number was bigger. Check out these games for extra practice at home! Comparing Number Values Fruit Splat Comparing Numbers-Turtle Diary
Science- We wrapped up our unit on weathering & erosion. Students created their first Google document on Schoology to write a sentence describing weathering and erosion, as well as add a picture to represent each.
