Glance at a Golden Week 4.23-4.26

It’s game time!

Bitmoji ImageReading review has begun and the race to SOL testing is on the way! Only one more week until we show how much we’ve learned this year!

A LOOK INTO ROOM 8:

Reading- We reviewed main idea/summarizing strategies as we analyzed poetry and functional text. Although these types of text are different from the typical fiction and nonfiction text, we are still able to stop and jot and think deeply about the meaning. Additionally, the students participated in some super fun review games including Tic-Tac-Booyah and an Egg Hunt as we reviewed our vocabulary skills. Be sure to ask about these games at home!Image result for main idea clipart

Writing- Students completed the final alternative writing assessment of the quarter. All year we have learned various editing strategies including run-on sentences, contractions, double negatives, and more. This week the students edited a letter for mistakes using these skills. Image result for editing clipartSocial Studies- We concluded our unit on the Southwest region of the United States. The students described the natural resources, economic opportunities, significant features, and more as they completed their end of unit assessment. Next week we will begin our final region: the West!
