Happy spring break! We made it! I am so proud of the hard work, focus, and determination that we showed this week. We had a lot going on with MAPs at the beginning of week, a field trip and career day in the middle of the week, and some learning to wrap up the end of our week! I am impressed with the growth that we have made and shown through our MAPs scores. Way to go!
It’s hard to believe that when we return from break we will be ready to wrap up the end of our 3rd nine weeks! In just a few short weeks we will begin prepping for our SOL tests. I look forward to working hard as we wrap up our last few units! Until then, I hope you all take this week to put your feet up, rest, and rejuvenate!
We had such a great time exploring the University of Richmond this week! Many students thought we had stepped right onto the pages of Harry Potter! It was wonderful to see everyone get so excited to learn more about the college experience, plan for the future, and feast on some delicious food. We had great questions and represented Trevvett well! 
THIS WEEK IN…
Reading- We reviewed and analyzed cause and effect relationships in nonfiction and fictional text. The students determined the cause of events in the stories and analyzed the effect that it had.
Writing- Students wrote a story based on a picture displayed. This required us to be creative and think out of the box! The students then worked with a partner to revise their work by making it better. They used appropriate and effective words and elaborated with details.
Social Studies- we learned our new Midwest states and capitals song! The students explored the natural resources, economic activities, and significant features of the Midwest region. We also located key land and water features in the region.

- Save the date: Fifth Grade Picnic is June 9th at 11:00 at Trevvett!
The PTA is throwing fifth graders a potluck picnic on June 9th! There will be food, games, photo booth, and crafts. An invitation was sent home on Thursday. We hope you can join the festivities, and please consider volunteering! - Save the date: Fifth Grade Moving On Ceremony is June 12th at 6:00 PM at Moody Middle School
