Glance at Golden Week (1.22-1.26)

We made it through our first FULL week of school in the 2018 school year and MAN was it jam PACKED!

Today marked the end of our second nine weeks. That means we are officially half way through the school year. Can you believe it!?!?!

Make sure to check out all the things we worked on this week in the “THIS WEEK IN…” portion of this blog post below.

Benchmarks were postponed due the snow.  Rest and review so you can show what you know on the following dates…

  • February 6-7 – Golden Homeroom Math Benchmark
  • February 8-9 – Capano Homeroom Math Benchmark
  • February 13 – Science Benchmark
  • February 20-21 – Golden Homeroom Reading Benchmark
  • February 22-23 – Capano Homeroom Reading Benchmark

THIS WEEK IN…

Reading- We prepared for and completed a Reading IA. The scores for this IA were averaged with the scores from the December IA. The results of this assessment were higher than the December IA! I am proud of all the hard work everyone put into their IA by showing their work and highlighting key words! This week, we began preparing for the upcoming reading benchmark by working through practice IA’s as a whole group. The students read and analyzed passages and answered the corresponding comprehension questions.

Writing- We completed our alternative writing assessment in which they wrote a multi-paragraph essay about their favorite type of entertainment. This assessment will demonstrate understanding of how to write a multi-paragraph composition that revolves around a single topic.

Social Studies- We reviewed key information about the Southeast Region of the United States and completed an end of unit test on Thursday. Next up we’ll be moving on to learning about the Northeast region!

Math & Science–  Visit Miss Capano’s blog to read what students did in math and science this week!
