We have some amazingly talented and kind dolphins here at ELES!! Every day they fill our halls and classrooms with kindness, but last week they decorated them with it! Hi Echo Lake Dolphins! Welcome back to the 2017-2018 school year! I am so grateful to be back with you and look forward to another great year!
This year we will be recognizing students for showing our monthly super hero character traits and learning about them in class lessons and morning meetings. I will have a group of 5th grade leaders help to introduce each character trait on the announcements! I also look forward to working with our newly elected Dolphin Buddy 5th grade leaders! They are going to do great things for our students and staff this year!!

Echo Lake Families,
What an exciting spring we have here at the Lake! This month in lessons, I will be talking about determination! We will be talking about how it’s okay to make mistakes, not giving up, and using determination in team work!
We have Career Day coming up June 12th. If you would like to volunteer to share your talent and enthusiasm for your career, please return the pink form that came home last week by Friday or give me a call! Volunteers will present six 15-20 minute sessions on their career. I will contact chosen volunteers. Thank you to all that have already jumped in to help out!
Lastly, testing season is upon us! I am working with students to remind them of some important testing tips that will help them to do their best. We had 5th grade “super testers” teaching testing tips on the announcements. Ask your child what they’ve learned! We are so proud of all of their hard work this year!

Henrico County will be recognizing Kindness Week January 23-27! Echo Lake students will be participating in the Great Kindness Challenge! Students who complete the challenge and turn it in to me by Friday, will get a small prize. 🙂

This month, my lessons are all focused on using a positive attitude! 5th grade has shown this through excellent teamwork! See what they worked together to build and ask them what their team had to do in order to complete this task! I enjoyed getting to see them being kind, open minded, determined, helpful, and inclusive in their groups! Way to go 5th grade! 🙂
