Happy Showcase week “eve”! Next week is our CFA Showcase tech/rehearsal/gallery hanging week – with shows on Thursday, Friday and Saturday! This Newsletter contains A LOT of information about the Fall Showcase – so please read this very carefully! STUDENTS – please use this weekend to rest, catch up on homework/school projects, study and to even work ahead on your class work/projects! Next week will be a very busy week for you, so use this weekend to get some sleep, eat healthy meals and to plan ahead for your school responsibilities next week. Remember – CFA Showcase rehearsals DO NOT excuse you from class, class projects, assignments, etc. Please communicate with your teachers if you have any questions about next week.
To all the parents who have signed up on the Sign-up Genius to help FCFA during SHOWCASE WEEK – THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU so much ? Parents who have not yet signed up but haven’t gotten around to it yet! – WE STILL NEED YOUR HELP! We are going to need LOTS of parent volunteers to make next week’s CFA Fall Showcase run smoothly. We need help with the pre-showcase dinners – both in the way of donations and servers – we need help with concessions, we need help with the VA reception, we need help with the tables at Moody – well, we just need LOTS of help! Please see the FCFA corner below – very soon there will be sign-up genius for you to select exactly what level of volunteer service you can give. MANY, MANY thanks in advance for your help – we can’t do this without you ?
PLEASE NOTE: due to Showcase tech week rehearsals/performances, there might NOT be a CFA Newsletter published next week. If we can’t get a Newsletter out next Friday, the next issue of the CFA Newsletter will be distributed on Monday, November 25. CFA FALL SHOWCASE INFORMATION:
CFA FALL SHOWCASE – PARKING AT MOODY
Attached is a map of the neighborhood surrounding Moody Middle School showing where parking is available. Moody Middle School administration has also arranged for additional parking for our CFA Fall Showcase guests in the River of Life and Christ Lutheran Church parking lots. Additional parking is also available on the neighboring streets; however, no parking is permitted on Woodman Rd. It is highly recommended that you arrive early to find parking.
CFA FALL SHOWCASE – TICKETS
The CFA Performing Arts Showcase at Moody MS is FREE, but tickets are required. The CFA Visual Arts Gallery at HHS DOES NOT require tickets. All CFA students will receive complimentary tickets to the Performing Arts Showcase at Moody Middle School.
These tickets will be distributed to students on Tuesday, November 19 during the school day. Each student will sign that they have received their tickets.
Tickets will be distributed as follows:
• Each CFA Performing Arts student will get THREE (3) complimentary tickets for BOTH the Friday and Saturday night showcases.
• Each CFA Visual Arts student will get THREE (3) complimentary tickets for ONE night. The Level I and II students will get THREE tickets for Friday night. The Level III and IV students will get THREE tickets for Saturday night.
PLEASE NOTE – the Moody Middle School auditorium is slightly smaller than the HHS auditorium, so please do NOT lose or misplace your complimentary tickets – they CANNOT be replaced!
Since we will be giving tickets to BOTH HHS and MOODY MIDDLE faculty, there will be VERY FEW extra tickets available for either Friday or Saturday night. CFA students may sign up for ONE extra ticket for ONE night only beginning Wednesday, November 20 in the CFA office. We cannot guarantee that the extra tickets requests will be granted. Students are encouraged to trade amongst themselves to gain additional seats. If you have any questions about tickets, please do not hesitate to contact the CFA Office for assistance. Again, we are looking forward to a wonderful 2013 Fall Showcase! We appreciate your patience during our HHS renovation years as well as your compliance with the procedures in effect for this year’s showcase.
CFA FALL SHOWCASE – REHEARSAL SCHEDULE
Attention all VISUAL ART students and parents:
ALL CFA Visual Art students will be responsible for attending the showcase one night. You must communicate with your Visual Art teacher as to which night you will be attending. Also, CFA Visual Art 9th grade students will also be given responsibilities for helping with the reception at the gallery – Ms. Dowdy is coordinating these duties, so please check with her if you have any questions.

Monday, November 18 – Levels I and II ONLY. Dinner starts at 4:15 p.m. in the North Cafeteria – students will report to their CFA classroom and will be escorted over by their CFA teacher. We will load buses for Moody at 5:00 and will depart at 5:10 p.m. Rehearsal is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. We will leave Moody at 8:30 p.m. and will arrive at HHS for parent pick-up at 8:45 p.m.
Tuesday, November 19 – Levels III and IV ONLY. Dinner starts at 4:15 p.m. in the North Cafeteria – students will report to their CFA classroom and will be escorted over by their CFA teacher. We will load buses for Moody at 5:00 and will depart at 5:10 p.m. Rehearsal is from 5:30-8:30 p.m. We will leave Moody at 8:30 p.m. and will arrive at HHS for parent pick-up at 8:45 p.m.
Wednesday, November 20 – ALL LEVELS. Dinner starts at 4:15 p.m. in the North Cafeteria – students will report to their CFA classroom and will be escorted over by their CFA teacher. We will load buses for Moody at 5:00 and will depart at 5:10 p.m. Rehearsal is from 5:30-8:45 p.m. We will leave Moody at 8:45 p.m. and will arrive at HHS for parent pick-up at 9:00 p.m.
Thursday, November 21 – ALL LEVELS. Dinner starts at 4:15 p.m. in the North Cafeteria – students will report to their CFA classroom and will be escorted over by their CFA teacher. We will load buses for Moody at 5:00 and will depart at 5:10 p.m. Rehearsal is from 5:30-9:30 p.m. NOTE – the Invitational Dress Rehearsal starts at 7:00 p.m. with the house opening at 6:45 p.m. We will leave Moody at 9:15 p.m. and will arrive at HHS for parent pick-up at 9:30 p.m.
Friday, November 22 – ALL LEVELS. CALL AT MOODY is 6:30 p.m. NOTE: There will NOT be any CFA teachers staying after school on Friday – we are all going over to Moody.
STUDENTS and PARENTS – you are responsible for getting over to Moody by 6:30 p.m. for call! Students can either ride the bus home and then parents can take them to Moody; students may drive over if they are student drivers. NO ONE can stay after school.
**AGAIN – you are responsible for getting to Moody on your own and there will NOT be any CFA teachers staying after school on Friday to watch students!!**
Saturday, November 23 – ALL LEVELS. CALL for DANCERS ONLY is 6:15 p.m.; all other MT and Theatre students are called at 6:30 p.m. **More information about the CFA Fall Showcase Rehearsal Schedule was included in the parent letter that was distributed to all CFA Dance, MT and Theatre students the week of November 4**

Showcase week is HERE! Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to provide food, drinks, and/or time during showcase week! We appreciate it very much! We do have a number of needs still remaining though for dinners for the performing arts students. We need to provide dinners for approximately 85 students and staff Monday night, 75 on Tuesday night, and 160 on Wednesday and Thursday night. This is a first-time undertaking for CFA and FCFA, and we want to be sure everyone has a good meal before heading over to Moody.

A few reminders:
• Performing Arts concession donations should be delivered to the CFA office by November 20th.
• Any donations of food, water, etc. need to be clearly labeled (“concession donations”, “visual arts reception”, etc.) and ON TIME to the correct location.
Spiritwear All students should have received their spiritwear orders through their CFA classes. For anyone who may wish they had ordered something that they didn’t in the fall, we will have a Showcase Special order going in immediately after showcases, so be sure to stop by the FCFA table either at the Gallery or at Moody to fill out an order form. All orders will be available prior to winter break. (If you want this to be a surprise, make a note on your order form and we will coordinate a delivery.)
Dr. Louise Ferland sponsoring Fundraising Event Dr. Ferland will be hosting a fundraising event for the CFA students in her office on Saturday, December 14th, with all proceeds going to the FCFA. Student artwork will be on display in the office as well! Botox and Juvederm will be offered at discounts ($9/unit for Botox and $500/syringe for Juvederm).
