Our school theme this year is “Cooking Up Success at the Park!”
Ask yourself, “What are the most essential ingredients for making art work?” Is it the elements of art: line, shape, color, value, space or texture? Or, is it the principles of design: unity, balance, repetition, proportion, rhythm, variety, emphasis, movement, or pattern? How about good craftsmanship: time, care, effort, or neatness?
What are your goals as an artist, and what steps can you take to achieve them? This year we will measure success through student improvement and growth in the areas of art production and critical thinking. Fifth grade students will enhance their art knowledge and skills by using sketchbooks to record their thoughts and ideas, practice drawing, store handouts, etc. Students will be given an opportunity to reflect on their learning by completing rubrics and self evaluations. As always, our goal is to foster a joy for creating visual art so that students will be interested in pursuing it as a hobby outside of school. Happy Art Making!
