I try to help all faculty be more efficient at what they do. School counselors have many responsibilities. One particular responsibility is helping students with scheduling. The 8th grade counselor needed an efficient and effective way to give information to students and parents. Due to events and scheduling conflicts at Pocahontas, meeting with all 8th grade classes was not going to be possible. We decided that creating a video of the information and making it accessible for parents was the best way to communicate how the scheduling process would work and important dates and deadlines. The video was embedded on a Google webpage on the Pocahontas Middle School Parent Portal and a survey was included so that if parents still had questions, those could be submitted and answers could be answered by the counselor on an embedded Google Doc of Frequently Asked Questions.
