Lesson Summary
As we celebrate Black History Month, students will research the many contributions of African Americans. Individuals and student groups will select figures of their choice. First, each student will record their research in their writing journal. Then, students, in small self-selected groups will write a minimum of three sentences describing their African American figure. Given our on-going discussion of symbols and statues, the students will design and build a statue representing their person’s contribution. As our culminating activity, students will showcase each statue and description by creating digital books with the Book Creator App.
