¿Dónde está Imán? (Where is Imán?)

Summary

This is a partner project to create a digital children’s book learning tool that demonstrates the student’s mastery of Spanish grammar and vocabulary learned in class. In addition, it also allows the student to acquire more knowledge of the city to which they will be moving at the end of the school year (classroom paradigm for learning).

Research & Information Fluency

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students will identify sources and research online digital picture books to identify elements that are characteristic of children’s picture books to include in their work. They will also identify sites of cultural significance in their new cities to be included in their books, as a means of gaining greater awareness of their new living environments.

Communication & Collaboration

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students will choose partners, identify strengths/weaknesses/abilities/talents to contribute to their partnership, and identify tasks and responsibilities for each partner in the accomplishment of the objective. They will determine the most useful means/methods of maintaining communication on the progress of work. Upon completion of the project, partners will conduct a written peer assessment of each partner’s contribution to the success/completion of the project, identifying lessons learned that can be applied to future collaborative efforts.

Critical Thinking & Problem Solving

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students receive the title of their book project and its required content, but then have complete freedom to identify the digital application to be used, characters, plot, dialogue, design/layout and learning assessment (a required element of the project).

Creativity & Innovation

Rating: Ideal – Explanation: The final product (digital children’s picture book) will be the result of the other areas on the TIPC chart, as previously stated.
