Global Issues: Disease and Human Impact

This lesson is for : Grade 11: IB Spanish IV & V

Summary

Spanish students researched a variety of health issues in the target language. Then they choose a specific topic of personal interest to them to research and create an informational brochure or poster. They had to evaluate and utilize the most appropriate presentation mode for their topic. Some students chose to create infographics using Piktochart and Spaaze, while other students created Prezis and Microsoft Publisher brochures. In small groups, the students created a video for a public health concern addressed in class. Within the group for the video, different students are able to take on the role for which they have the most comfort, interest, and/or expertise. Most students used Microsoft MovieMaker, Adobe Premier, or iMovie to create their video. Students then held a Spanish Health Expo presenting all of their projects and other Spanish classes visited. Finally, the students completed peer evaluations of each of the videos.
