Summary
Students in Digital Media Art and English 11 classes collaborate on creating digital citizenship public service announcements. Both classes approach the challenge from their content area’s frame of reference. The English students research and advocate a position and then articulate their concept. The Digital Media students add input to the concept and and then create the PSA using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and After Effects. Throughout the project, students reflect and refine their work in progress. At the conclusion of the project, students participate in a field trip to a local advertising agency and television studio to observe, learn from, and discuss their projects with professional communicators. The best PSAs are selected for broadcast by the local television station.
