This lesson is for : Grade 7:

Summary

Have you ever wished you could find a way to persuade the principal to make changes to your school? Well, in this lesson students are given the opportunity to be heard by the principal and are challenged to use persuasion techniques to make a real change!

Using the persuasion techniques learned in English class, students will pick a topic that they are passionate about and create a plan to make a change at the school. Students will independently research their topic and provide evidence or need for the implementation of their idea. Using their research, students will compose a persuasive letter to the principal about their topic. Through an anonymous voting system, the class will determine the top 5 letters/topics to present to the principal. Students will then work collaboratively to change the top 5 persuasive letters into a digital presentation that includes strategies of persuasion. After creating the presentation, students will present their ideas to the principal! This allows the students a real opportunity to use their persuasion techniques to change the school! The principal will also provide the students with feedback on their ideas and ways that they could possibly be implemented.
