Summary
Working in groups of 4, the student will be creating a stop motion movie presentation showing examples of a 90, 180, 270 and 360 degree rotation. In expert groups they will work collaboratively to create and show a given rotation and compile facts about that rotation to teach to the others in the group. Finally they will return to their original groups and combine their presentations into one stop motion movie showing all 4 rotations.
TIPC Ratings
Not a focus of this lesson
IDEAL/TARGET – Students formed teams, assigned roles including a “expert” role for one of the rotations. Students also worked with their “Expert” group. Upon completion, the students reflected on their roles and evaluated how they felt the activity worked.
APPROACHING – Students became the “Expert” for the degree rotation. After creating their degree stop motion movie, they taught the other members of their group their rotation. Students then combined, review, edited and finished their completed stop motion movie.
DEVELOPING – Although not a primary focus of the lesson, students had elements of creativity in the groups to produce their final rotation stop motion video.
