Summary
During this lesson, students are engaged in reviewing how to solve equations through the use of the IPad. Students interact with the teacher and each other in a NearPod lesson and conclude by creating and evaluating their own process using the Show Me App. Students work in groups to solve word problems using equations and then work together to determine if the problem has been solved correctly and if there are any other ways to solve the equations.

In this lesson, the teacher has designed an engaging way for the students to review solving basic equations. Students collaborate through the apps and in groups. Students can see and comment on each other’s Draw It’s and Show Me’s to help them better understand the concepts needed.
The teacher creates the NearPod to allow the students to interact with the IPads through authentic tasks incorporated in the app. By demonstrating individual and group thinking and problem solving through the Draw Its and Show Mes, students justify their decision making and reflect on their decisions.
This lesson allows students to learn both individually and in groups, thereby reaching a variety of learning styles. Students utilize specific digital tools to complete authentic tasks through the IPad applications. Students create their own movie apps that demonstrate their ability to solve authentic tasks.
