Summary
In the factoring unit, the students learn how to reverse the multiplication of polynomials. The students learn many different factoring techniques. They learn factoring out the greatest common factor, factoring using the difference of squares, factoring trinomials with a = 1 and with a > 1, and factoring by grouping. They also learn how to solve equations by factoring. The unit consists of 7 instruction days, 1 review day, and 1 test day. At the end of this unit, students will be able to verbally and mathematically communicate how to factor a polynomial. They will display this knowledge in student-made videos and discuss what they have learned on an online discussion board.

This is Approaching in this category. This lesson provides the students the opportunity to use a variety of communication methods and digital tools such as, SchoolSpace, Educreations and Edmodo. The lesson is designed to promote collaboration in and outside of the classroom. This lesson is designed for the teacher as a facilitator and not directly supervising.
This lesson is Approaching in this category. The instruction was designed to make students create questions and explain them visually. Students justified and explained how to solve each equation with the digital tool educreation, and then discussed further in edmodo.
This lesson is Approaching in this category. Students created meaningful, original equations and solved them electronically, then shared the video with their classmates on edmodo. Students communicated and collaborated while applying critical thinking and problem solving to create this work within the assignment parameters.
