Reader’s Theater Plus – 4535

Summary

Sound design is the art of creating sounds to invoke emotion and mood in a production. In order to understand this concept, students listened to two Kevin O’Malley & Patrick O’Brien picture books, Captain Raptor and the Moon Mystery and Captain Raptor and the Space Pirates. They divided into two groups and practiced Reader’s Theater scripts for the two stories. The students then worked with the music teacher to choose instruments that would compliment certain words/parts of the stories. The Readers Theater’s were performed and recorded by the students, using musical instruments for sound effects. Recordings were put into iMovie and shared on the classroom blog.
