Prefix Project

Summary

Students research the meaning of prefixes and create a presentation teaching the meaning of these prefixes to others. Students choose groups, choose from a list of prefixes, and then research their prefixes. After assigning roles, they consider the pros and cons of different applications such as Windows MovieMaker, ActivInspire, PowerPoint, and Powtoon. As a group, students choose an application for their presentation, identify the information they need to present, and construct a presentation.

TIPC Ratings

The teacher modeled strategies to guide student investigation. Students acquired, evaluated, and applied information that they found on their own to respond to class assignments that prompted analysis of information. The students assembled and organized information to address authentic tasks.

Students established their own groups and formed their own teams. Students explored the most appropriate digital tools to use to complete their assignment.

Students followed specific parameters to investigate information determined by the teacher and compiled the information into presentations using ActivInspire.

Students analyzed trends and made predictions to solve an authentic task. Students created meaningful work within the assignment parameters.
