Summary
In this mini lesson focused on Critical Thinking, the students use ActivInspire to connect causes and effects from the context of a short story. They respond to higher order questions, elaborate on and justify their answer, and use digital tools.

Because the students worked in student-selected groups and collaborated on this project, it falls in the developing category on the TIP chart. The activity could be done collaboratively or individually, but value is added when students work together on the activity to come to consensus on the causes and effects.
Approaching: This lesson involved elements of the approaching category, as the teacher models a range of critical thinking strategies. The students are sorting, creating, and answering higher order questions with different digital tools included with ActivInspire. They justify their decision making practice and respond to purposeful questions.
Creativity and Innovation were not a focus of this mini-lesson for Cause and Effect.
