Cultural Candy

Summary

The purpose of this exercise is to introduce students to different cultures and the influence of

culture on design. Students will explore cultural impacts on product design by tasting candy from

different countries and evaluating the differences. Students will then design and create a package

for their own candy based on a researched country.

Developing: Students were prompted to research specific questions about the county they selected to collect information to create a package for the candy based on the culture of the country.

Developing. Students formed groups with assigned responsibilites to research county, create method of presenting information, and create packaging for candy based on the location and culture of the country.

Developing. The students are using their imagination to design a product for a culture. The students created plays, PowerPoint, and video ads to present information about the country and explain their design choice.

Approaching. Students use researched information about their country to create orginal packaging based on the location, geography, and culture of their country.
