Week 19 Update

Whew! We have reached the end of the second nine weeks! That means we are officially halfway done with the school year! We still have lots more learning coming our way in first grade, but I am so pleased with the students’ progress so far! I can’t wait to see them grow even more!

We learned about the important contributions of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We reviewed lots of topics this week in science and social studies, such as animal coverings and characteristics, Jamestown, and map features. We practiced more solving and creating story problems in math. The students worked in pairs to research a topic of their choosing, such as rocks, tropical rainforests, deserts, and more! Together, they thought about what questions they had about their topic and read in their book to find the answers.
