Glance at a Golden Week 10.22-10.26

Goodness. Would you look at that, it’s raining again! This weather gives us the perfect excuse to stay inside and get cozy though. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

A LOOK INTO ROOM 8:

Reading- We further explored roots and affixes as we practiced this skill during a Bingo game and a Make a Word game! Roots and affixes will be used and discussed throughout the entire year, and we want this skill to be STRONG! We also continued our unit on nonfiction summarizing. The students partnered to read nonfiction text and used our “Unlocking a Nonfiction Summary” strategy to organize our summary.Writing- Students worked on finalizing their Papa John’s essays in which we addressed the question: “How can better your community by attending college, a university, or training program?” Next week we will type up our essays. Students will then be given an option to submit their essay into the competition!Social Studies- We concluded our study of Henrico with the exploration of Henrico’s school system past and present. We began a Henrico Awareness Project in which the students were assigned a topic relating to Henrico and will create an online pamphlet which tells about how that topic impacted Henrico County. These projects will be finished next week as we also prepare for our final assessment!
