  • Learn art, its history, aesthetics and criticism using written and oral formats.
  • Study elements and principles of design using a variety of media including computer.
  • Maintain a portfolio; use art vocabulary, understand visual literacy and cultural art.

Communication – Production

  • Start and maintain a process art portfolio (e.g., sketchbook/journal and working portfolio) for planning and as a resource in the art-making process (AI.1)
  • Combine a variety of perspective techniques, including one-point perspective, to create the illusion of space within works of art (AI.9)
  • Use a variety of drawing media and processes to create observational and expressive works of art  (AI.10)
  • Use contour and gesture lines in artwork

  • Critique works of art using constructive approaches that are supportive in intent and that offer alternative points of view (AI.18)

  • Produce artwork that demonstrates and understanding of three- dimensional art media with emphasis on sculpture.
  • Distinguish between relief sculpture and sculpture-in-the-round.
  • Understand the differences among additive, subtractive, modeling and molding processes.
  • Demonstrate and understanding of the importance of technique and a high level of craftsmanship in creating three-dimensional artwork.
  • Use a variety of traditional and contemporary media (e.g., two- dimensional, three-dimensional, multidimensional) to create works of art.(AI.6)
