  • Appreciate art, its history, aesthetics, and criticism.
  • Participate and create using a variety of art media and techniques including computer.
  • Explore art vocabulary, visual literacy and art from different cultures.

Communication – Production

  • Use and record sketchbook/journal, steps of the art-making process, including brainstorming, preliminary sketching, planning, reflecting, refining, and elaborating, to create works of art (6.1) One Week/ ongoing
  • Apply a variety of techniques (e.g., gesture, continuous line) in observational drawings (6.7) One Week/ ongoing
  • Use proportional relationships to depict  the human figure. One- Two Weeks
  • Use shading techniques in a variety of media to create the illusion of form. One Week/ ongoing
  • Communicate personal ideas, experiences, and narratives through the creation of works of art, using a variety of media (6.3) One Week/ ongoing
  • Use modeling, assembling, or carving to create three-dimensional works of art (6.8) Two Weeks
  • Use a variety of perspective techniques to create the illusion of space in works of art. (6.6) One Week

  • Identify and discuss a variety of artist and art careers and art related pathways (school to job and post secondary) (6.12) One Week/ ongoing
  • Identify art styles as they apply to materials, design, technique and subject matter (6.9) One Week/ ongoing
