May 17 – 21, 2021

We are so proud of the students as they are demonstrating what they know through both testing and completion of asynchronous review assignments.  Just a reminder that for the next two weeks we will continue with SOL test administration on Tuesdays and Wednesdays.  Any student that is not participating in the SOL will be assigned asynchronous work for both Tuesday and Wednesday. Students will be expected to complete the asynchronous work by 1:00 each day in order to be marked as “present.”  There are several graded assignments on asynchronous days.  There will not be a class Teams meeting on either day as we administer the state tests to our in person and virtual students.  Students will log into their resource on Tuesday at 12:00.

Reminders for students participating in SOL testing at School:

  • Arrive on time – school begins at 8:00
  • Students will need their fully charged laptop during testing
  • It would also be beneficial to have a couple of pencils
  • Scratch paper will be provided
  • Please bring a book or two from home for after testing
  • Lunch: Students will eat lunch in the classroom each day of testing

5/19 – Math SOL (virtual students)

MATH

We will continue to review the skills that we have learned throughout they year this week.  Students participating in the Math SOL will take these tests on Tuesday (in-person) or Wednesday (virtual).  Students who are not testing will complete review activities to demonstrate their knowledge.  The 5th grade portaportal are great resources for review!  Later in the week we will begin working with problem solving using numbers and logic.

LANGUAGE ARTS
We will continue reading The Phantom Tollbooth.  There won’t be Word Trek once again this week.  We will pick up with Word Trek after the Science SOL next week.

SCIENCE

Wow, we have learned about so many awesome things in science this year!  This week we will spend time reviewing these concepts. Students will be completing graded review assignments to demonstrate their knowledge of these concepts.  They should use their notes to assist while working on these.  Please continue to utilize the portaportal site to review and show what you know!

SOCIAL STUDIES

In social studies we are focusing on the unique aspects of each of the 11 states that make up the Western Region. We will also look at how the increase in population impacted the West Region.
