April 22 – 26, 2019

Field Day is April 26th!  Please make sure you have watched the volunteer video in the office and filled out the paper work by Tuesday if you signed up to help with field day.  Students will need to wear their team color on Friday, sneakers, sunscreen, and bring or pre-order a lunch for this fabulous day! 🙂

MATH

The students did an awesome job on the MAPS test!  I am so proud of them!  We will work on elapsed time this week along with reviewing previously taught material.  Please be sure that your student completes homework correctly each evening.  The time they spend on homework serves as review and practice time.  Please encourage your student to call me if they have questions.  It is super easy for me to talk them through it.  There will be a test on measurement conversion on Wednesday, April 24th.  Your student has notes in their notebook to help prepare for this quiz.  Weekly Math (orange logic puzzle) is due on Thursday, April 25th.

LANGUAGE ARTS

We will not have Word Trek this week due to Field Day.  The students will continue working with our novel study.  They will also work with many review skills in order to prepare for the Reading SOL.  We will do our final editing assessment for the county on Tuesday.  The students will be given a passage to edit using the skills we have practiced all year.

SCIENCE

We will continue reviewing with lots of activities along with working on the Science Study Placemat.  The placemat is due Thursday, May 2nd.  The Science SOL is Monday, May 6th.  We will be working hard to prepare in class with lots of review.  Correctly completed homework is crucial for review.  Please encourage your student to prepare at home using the resources on the science page of this blog.  Thanks so much for your support!  🙂

SOCIAL STUDIES

The students will continue exploring the Southwest Region.  They will begin a Southwest foldable project that includes four of the significant landmarks.  The test for this region is scheduled for Wednesday, May 1st.  Your students has notes in their notebook to help prepare for this test.
