Hello November! This week turned out to be the most PERFECT fall week. We had a busy week filled with collaborating on our STEAM place value book character art work, creating Scardey Monsters for our Book or Treat door display, Book or Treating on Tuesday, and bouncing to our hearts content at Big Blast! Thank you to those who were able to volunteer their time during our STEAM day and the Big Blast event. We couldn’t make these events happen without you!
A LOOK INTO ROOM 8:
Reading- This week we applied our knowledge of making predictions to nonfiction text. We learned how to use headings and the table of contents to make our predictions and then confirm/adjusting our predictions after reading each section. To end the week, we got some practice with PowerTest (a program used for testing). We discussed important test taking skills, such as higlighting key terms in questions, highlighting answers in the text, and eliminating answer choices that didn’t make sense. 
Be sure to use these skills at home when completing homework to help your child master this skill at school. We will continue to work on these test taking skills through out the year.
Math- We worked on transfering our knowledge on place value of 2 digit numbers to help us round 2 digit numbers to the closet 10. Students worked to identify digits in the ones place to determine if the number should round up or down. 
We will continue to work on this skill in the coming weeks, as well as apply this skill to 3 digit numbers. Try these games at home for extra review! Astro Blaster Rounding-I Know It
