VPA SUMMER GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL
Thanks to everyone who attended the VPA Governor’s School interest meeting yesterday afternoon. The in-house auditions to select our HHS representatives for VPA Summer Governor’s School are listed below:
VISUAL ARTS – Friday, October 15
- Google slides digital portfolios are due to VA teacher Friday, October 15 (google drive). On Tuesday, October 19, the VA Teachers will let students know if they are finalists for in-person interviews. In-person interviews will take place before school and during Warrior Time in room 1603 on Thursday, October 21.
- Portfolio should include 9-13 strong pieces that demonstrate content and media breadth as well as technical skill. Must include observational drawings. Sketchbooks work is fine but should not be the bulk of the portfolio. Please do not include work from middle school, or that copyright infringes a photograph/other artist’s work.
THEATRE – Monday, October 18
Theatre auditions in CFA Musical Theatre (Mr. Dye’s room – 1308)
- One/two-minute monologue memorized
- Time: after school starting at 4:10 p.m.
MUSIC – VOCAL – Monday, October 18
Vocal Music auditions in CFA Musical Theatre Room (Mr. Dye’s room – 1308)
- One song memorized (must have sheet music or recorded accompaniment – CD, laptop or MP3 is preferred) plus sight reading
- Time: after school starting at 4:10 p.m.
MUSIC – INSTRUMENTAL – TBD
Instrumental auditions will be scheduled with Mr. Cousins on an individual basis the week of October 18-22
DANCE – Thursday, October 21
Dance auditions in CFA Dance Studio
- Time: after school from 4:15-6:00 p.m.
- Dance Class will consist of a Modern Warm Up, Ballet Barre, and choreographic phrases. In addition, students should choreograph a 30 second solo of the dance discipline of their choosing and provide their own music. Audition attire will consist of:
- Females – Black leotard, flesh/pink convertible tights, and ballet shoes. Modern portion will be in bare feet. Optional: shorts to pull over clothes for Modern dance.
- Males – White T-shirt, black tights, and ballet shoes. Modern portion will be in bare feet. Optional: Shorts to pull over clothes for Modern dance.
