Summary

3rd Graders to the rescue! Animals mean the world to many people around the world. Pets are more than just an animal to take care of, they are family. This group of 3rd graders set out to help the animals in the area while helping people simultaneously. The class partnered up with the local SPCA to learn more about the animals there and to help get them adopted. The students used their knowledge of animal adaptations, physical/behavioral characteristics, and habitats to create Public Service Announcements for their chosen animal at the SPCA. The students used persuasive writing to engage their audience and create a case to assist in the adoption of their animal. Throughout the process the students used multiple collaborative tools via Google, Scratch, and video production software to showcase their understanding of the content while making an impact on the community in which they live.
