This lesson is for : Grade 4:
Summary
Our school did an extraordinary job planning and developing a school garden and for the last couple of years have been enjoying the Garden. However, during this year we noticed not as many teachers or students were utilizing the garden for lessons in their classroom. We decided as a class that we would need to make the garden more user friendly. first, we brainstormed ideas about the best ways to reach classrooms and the community. We then needed to inventory what the garden has already as far as plant species. Next, we needed to identify the standards of learning for each grade level and what programs were available to use as presentations and movies. Lastly, students needed to divide and conquer and who would be responsible for what before the creation portion began. When the unit is all over, the end result will be a media blitz using posters, informative movie presentations, skits, and PowerPoint presentations while utilizing the television announcements to broadcast. The garden will host newly created QR code signs which will give information on each of the plants and living cycles in the garden for classes to use as research.
