TIPC Ratings
Research & Information Fluency
Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Through participation in the research stations, students interacted with information through a variety of digital formats. Students created their own questions about their given American Revolution event and had to utilize the different media at each station deciding what was pertinent to their topic. Students used a Google Doc to collect and analyze the information they obtained.
Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students worked in pre-selected groups to complete their research and create an original product. The use of Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Schoology made collaboration between group members more accessible and encouraged collaboration outside of the classroom. Students also organized their tasks between group members using the Google Doc. Once the project was completed, students filled out a reflection form to reflect on their role in the project and how they could improve in the future when they work with others collaboratively.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Rating: Approaching – Explanation: As students decided how they wanted to communicate their new knowledge, they worked through their creation process figuring out how to utilize digital tools in effective, efficient ways. As the students were under a tight timeline in which to create, they had to problem solve quickly and act on decisions to ensure a quality product by the deadline.
Creativity & Innovation
Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students took their research and worked in collaborative groups to synthesize that information and create unique and innovative multi-media product which taught the essential knowledge for their American Revolution event. Students were given a menu of choices but were encouraged to explore their own ideas if they would like.
