#MemesMean? – 95

This lesson is for : Grade 8:

Summary

Through social media, students are being bombarded with various contemporary controversial issues. Naturally curious about what they are viewing online, students need guidance in both understanding the topics they see and knowing how to research its validity. In a Civics’ class, students will use Google Classroom to compile and cite research on a contemporary issue that has attracted their attention. Using research to support their stance on their issue of choice, students will then type a three to five paragraph platform. After the platform is complete, students will create a Meme designed, not only to support their beliefs, but also to attract others to their platform. Finally, students have an opportunity to view and comment on their peers’ platforms and memes as well as to reflect on the entire process.
