Communication & Collaboration
Rating: Developing – Explanation: Once students completed their creation, they used a Google form to ask questions and give constructive feedback to each other.
Critical Thinking & Problem Solving
Rating: Developing – Explanation: As part of this lesson, students were required to really think abstractly about how to turn the thoughts and emotions from text into a visual creation. This was difficult for many students as their first inclination is to paste text to a picture. In participating in the feedback portion of the lesson, the hope is that if students had more time, they would be able to push their thinking a bit further to truly make a visual representation of their quote, lyric or saying.
Creativity & Innovation
Rating: Ideal – Explanation: Students used mobile technology in order to create an original work to express a favorite quote, saying or music lyric. Students had the freedom to explore the use of several apps to create this original work as well and work through and reflect on creativity using a mobile device in a very quick turn around time. Students collaborated with peers to received feedback and then set goals for future creations that would require deeper analytical thought to communicate their thoughts, feelings and ideas.
