“There is a new exhibit opening at the museum. This particular exhibit is going to be a kid friendly, hands on, exhibit focusing on one group of American Indians. The museum curator that is in charge of the exhibit has asked you to work with a partner in deciding which group of American Indians on which the exhibit will focus. The curator has also put your group in charge of advertising for the exhibit. Your job is to create a commercial that explains what the new kid friendly exhibit will be like. You will also include facts about the American Indian group of your choosing.” After hearing the authentic task, the students were asked to create a commercial advertising their new kid friendly museum exhibit. The students chose their groups after hearing the authentic task. Once the groups were selected, students decided which group of American Indians on which to focus. The students used their rubric as a guide to help them gather information and complete their commercial.
