Summary
Each student is to design an ideal city of his/her own and write a composition, using the computer writing program My Access, to describe and explain it.
First, students are divided into groups to explore information at library stations about alternative societies . Students are to discuss these societies and then decide individually if a society is a utopia or dystopia in his/her mind.
Then, as a class, students are to read The Giver, a book about a supposedly Utopian society which has become dystopian to the protagonist.
