Spanish Film Festival – 7844

Summary

Taking inspiration from the 48 Hour Film Festival held in Richmond each year, students in our Spanish classes worked together to write, film, and edit a short movie over two class periods.  Teams randomly drew the genre their movie would be based on (comedy, drama, sci-fi, action, musical, and others), created a story board, and then, using conversational Spanish, acted out their script.

TIPC Ratings

The students had to work together through various stages to create a short film. Students used a Google Doc to collaboratively write the script and worked together to create their story board. The students also worked together to film and act out their script, taking turns in various roles in the production. A couple groups used collaborative online video editing tools, like WeVideo, to edit their final movie.

Students were given minimum guidance in the creation of their movie. The students had to strategize on how to best tell a story using the Spanish language, and film and edit their final video based on the selected genre.

The students created a short film from scratch using their own ingenuity and imagination based on a randomly selected film genre.
