CSI: Body Systems

Summary

The students will be learning about body systems and diseases that affect the body systems, through the investigation of 4 mock crime scenes. The students will gain an understanding of the body system content by exploration through geo-caching and QR code scanning. Through the information that the students learn from each of the stations encounter, they will be determining the cause of death or injury. Students will report their findings to the “Command Center” at the end of their investigation.

TIPC Ratings

The students answered questions on the I pad being guided by the Crime Scene Questionnaire. They needed to work as a group and had to organize the information given to them to see if it answered their question correctly. They had to work in order of the sheet, it followed a sequence. Answering the questions was made possible by using various technology tools, such as iPads and Skype.

The students formed teams on their own and organized roles according to what each picked. Again, they used digital tools such as I pads and computers to help solve the crime.

The students used the appropriate tools to help solve the crime. Together as a team they searched the victim and scene and asked questions among themselves to be able to answer the next question about the crime scene. At the end when they meet together they discussed the roles they played and how he/she contributed to solving the crime. They also discussed on what worked and didn’t work as a group.

They were given the assignment and they had to determine cause of death with some existing knowledge already known about the victim through the database.
