Summary
Once the class has finished their unit on introduction to news broadcast, journalism, and advertisement, the class is assigned an advertisement project where students must create their own product. The students have learned about advertising strategies such as celebrity endorsement and powerful language. The students use their knowledge to strategize a way to effectively “sell” their product to the class. They put this information together in a flipchart or PowerPoint design to complete part one of the project. Students work with a partner on part two of the project, which requires students to create a commercial for one of the following: their product, a product already in existence, or a movie or play. Students then present their commercial to the class. They must explain their product and chosen advertising strategies. The audience must participate by completing a rubric for each presentation.

students must create a movie maker commercial with a partner. They must also present their commercial to the class. The audience must critique each presentation with a rubric. I will then use the student rubrics to create feedback for the presenters.
Students work on creating a new product to try and sell. They must answer questions (teacher-given) about their product and create a presentation on a flip chart or Power Point. Students are creating new ideas products and must discuss the functions of their products.
Students must prioritize and organize information in order to piece the assignment together. Students must respond to the questions given by the teacher. Students must first decide who their audience is. Then, students must use thinking skills to determine how to hook their audience using the appropriate advertisement strategies.
