Animal Research

Summary

Students will use a variety of resources and technologies to research the body coverings and habitats of animal adults and their offspring. National Geographic Young Explorer, PebbleGo, Pics4Learning and the ShowMe app will be the focus.

TIPC Ratings

The students were given a graphic organizer with questions to answer about an animal of their choice. Research was done with their partner using PebbleGo.com and National Geographic Young Explorers. The students were also given the task of finding pictures of their animals from the Pics4learning.com website.

The teacher paired students, but allowed them to choose which animal they wanted to research together. Using the ShowMe iPad application, the students shared what they learned during their research using pictures, words, and their voices to communicate. The teacher compiled the ShowMe videos and created a movie to share with other classes.

Students analyzed an animal to determine if the adult and the parent looked the same or different. They also used their research to share what they learned about the animal on the iPads.

Students were given the opportunity to share their research in a creative way using the ShowMe app on the iPad. They could use pictures, words, and their voice to be creative.
