Create Your Own Fairy Tale

Submitted by: Amanda Reese
School: Laburnum

Summary

Students will review the elements of a fairy tale by completing the Promethean Board flipchart together as a whole group. Students will recall these elements in previous fairy tales read in class, including good/evil characters, magic, problem/solution, the numbers 3 and 7, once upon a time, and happily ever after. Students will work in small groups to create their own fairy tale. Each group will complete 4 tasks: (1) Create 2 characters using craft materials, (2) design the setting using Pixie, (3) write their own fairy tale including the elements they have studied, (4) act out their fairy tale using their puppets, their setting projected on the Promethean board, and their script. One member of the group will record the presentation on the iPad and they will show their videos to other kindergarten classes to review fairy tale elements.
