A Walk in Jackie’s Shoes

Submitted by: Claire Gill
School: Tuckahoe Elementary School

Summary

As an extension to our study of Jackie Robinson, students work collaboratively and use 21st century skills to research Jackie’s life, “describe” his character, and explore real-life situations in which we may apply his life lessons to cope with the challenges of acceptance. The information gathered is used to produce a class book entitled, “A Walk in Jackie’s Shoes: Mrs. Gill’s Problem Dodgers.” This class book provides a non-traditional assessment.
