Early Fall Cross-Curricular Centers

Summary

Students will be broken into heterogeneous groups of four to five students to work in four center rotations. A general education teacher and special education work in the inclusive setting to explain the centers. Centers involve the Promethean Board, iPads, initial sound sorts, and scientific exploration of autumn colors and textures.

TIPC Ratings

This lesson is Developing in Research and Information Fluency. Students will independently select tools to use to draw on the Promethean Board. They will also use the posted resources in the room to identify fall color words found in text. They will use a pocket chart of pictures as a resource for drawing objects beginning with the /t/.

This lesson is Approaching in Communication and Collaboration. While groups are teacher selected, students will be encouraged to define roles within the groups to accomplish the tasks. The Promethean Board and iPads will be used to facilitate communication.

This lesson is Approaching in Critical Thinking and Problem Solving. Students will present their drawings on the Promethean Board to their classmates, explaining their choices and how they mastered the objective. When selecting objects for the sound sort, students will explain what the item is and justify their sort choice.

This lesson is Approaching in Creativity and Innovation. Students will be given the opportunity to demonstrate creatively on iPads, the Promethean Board, and on paper.
