Summary

After studying the U.S. symbols, the students were given the task to create a symbol to represent themselves.  The students worked in pairs to create one symbol that represented them both as a team and as individuals.  Students planned their symbol together and then built their symbol out of recycled materials.  The students were given criteria to follow for how many materials they could use and what features the symbol had to include.  Students took pictures of their symbols using iPads.  Students recoreded themselves in Pixie discussing their symbol.  Finally, the students used Pages to create a flyer to advertise their symbol as well as the U.S. symbols we studied.
