Summary
AGENCY is designed to give the students insight into the psychology and production of advertising in America. It examines various rules, techniques, tricks, and gimmicks that are used to promote and sell everything from deodorants to computers.
Students will learn about the importance of oral language, written language, and visual language. They will learn how to write slogans and endorsements. After students examine advertising techniques, and examine several types of advertisements, they will become members of an AGENCY. Each member will have a different role in the agency such as: supervisor, chief copywriter, radio/TV production coordinator, writers, artist, production assistant, and actors.
The agencies had to develop the following products for judging: name of agency, slogan for agency, Icon for agency, Icon for recycling at Elko, Billboard, magazine design, magazine ad, commercial for TV, commercial for radio, campaign presentation.
Martin Agency provided an agent who came in and presented various sample of work. She also talked to the students about successful development of a campaign and what clients are looking for. For each assignment the agency will earn money, which will have a payoff of $100-$2,000 their total value could be the difference of winning or losing the simulation.
