Summary

The Kindergarten students will make their own picture dictionary. Students work in small groups and pick the letters they will put into the class pictionary. The students research multiple picture books, starfall website, picture dictionaries, and alphabet books to discuss and find pictures beginning with their chosen letters. After collaborating they will be given planning sheets to draw different pictures of objects beginning with their letter sound. The students work will use Pixie 2 to construct their letter page on the computer. First they will type their letter (capital and lower case) on their page. Afterwards they will search through the Pixie clip art pages to find two objects beginning with their letter sound. These objects are added to their letter page. Voice recordings will be added with students reading their letter entry. For example, “A is for apple and astronaut”. Upon completion of the ABC book, the students will vote on their favorite letter. Their responses will recorded using tally marks on a table. The letters receiving the most votes will be used in a “Tagxedo” page.
