Summary

Students will use a Pages or iWeb template and Photobooth to create a Famous American network Page. This will include information about the famous American, posted comments between students and the famous American, an interview, and links to websites or online movie clips to gain more information. The finished network page, “Famebook” will be posted on the teacher’s website and printed for children to put into a book to study for SOLs.

Imagine if our American heroes were alive in the 21st century. They would each certainly have a social networking page. Who would their friends be and what would they be reporting in their status? As 21st century citizens we communicate though social media . Using imaginary dialogues between “Famebook Friends”, the students will need to demonstrate these essential questions: Why is this person famous? What contributions did this person make to our society? What obstacles did the person face? How do people remember this person? What is their greatest accomplishment? Students will also infer from their knowledge how the famous person would respond to comments posted on their Famebook page.
