Summary
The students will choose a term relevant to the concept of force and motion being studied. After digitally creating a sign to illustrate and define their term, students will determine a way to physically demonstrate their concept in the environment. They will film their demonstration then use the footage to create an iMovie to share with the fourth-grade classes as review.
TIPC Ratings
Entry: This lesson falls in the entry level of the rubric. Students used pre-selected resources (classroom instructional resources) to locate information. They were given explicit directives on how to complete the assignment.
Developing: This lesson falls into the developing level of the rubric. The teacher provided direct instruction on the technology she expected students to use and provided in-class opportunities for students to collaborate. Students worked in self-selected groups and determined which team members would be responsible for each project task.
Developing: This lesson falls in the approaching level of the rubric. The teacher modeled several ways to demonstrate terms physically in the environment as well as giving direct instruction on trouble-shooting with the Flip camera. Students had to brainstorm available options to ensure their group adequately demonstrated the term as well as be able to justify why they designed their demonstration as they did when asked. They used the digital tools made available to them to complete the class assignment.
Developing: This lesson falls in the developing level of the rubric. The teacher clearly connected the content being studied and how those concepts are illustrated in the environment. Although students had to use certain technology tools, they were given choice in how they would demonstrate their selected term. They built upon their existing knowledge to apply what they had learned in a new way.
