Summary
The students will work with a partner to create a new product. The student project will include a print ad and a commercial to advertise their original product. Students will need to include the persuasive techniques discussed during the persuasive unit in class.
TIPC Ratings
Entry: Students will be required to become familiar with actual product labels (ie, ingredients, size, warnings, barcode, logos). The students will also be required to understand persuasive techniques (must incorporate at least two in commercial). They will use the information to convince others to purchase their product.
Developing: Students will be working in teams of three to create, design, and present their product. They will select appropriate computer programs to create their print ads, product labels, and commercials. They will communicate with the teacher and other group members on progress of the project. They will work with their team to create all three portions of the project.
Developing: Students will use technology resources (computer, digital camera, video camera) to complete the task. They will create an original product, construct the product packaging, and create a 60-second commercial. They will have to decide what product best meets the needs of the group, and how to design the label of the product, as well as develop the commercial.
Approaching: Teacher will give very broad requirements. Students will have creative liberty on the presentation of their product.
