The Varina field hockey team was defeated in a close contest against Highland Springs on October 8.

Blue Devil junior middle Rodazia Smith started off the game with a drive down the field passing to junior sweeper Mone Akindele.

The conflict between Springer defense and Blue Devil offense was tense, but the Springers could not stop Mone and Rodazia as they made the first goal of the game.

Mone scored again in the second half after a 50 yard run down the field.

However, the Blue Devil dominance was thwarted by Springer Tah-Vae Joseph-Burton who led her team to 3 consecutive goals, securing the win for Highland Springs.  The Springers won the game 3-2.
