Discovering Central America in 3D

Lesson Summary

Students chose a country to research in Central America and worked with a partner to research the geography, landmarks, fun facts, and current problems of
that country. Students presented their research using Google Docs, Google presentation as well as designing a 3D model of the artifact or solution to the problem they
researched. Students set up a booth displaying their 3D projects and slideshows during a “REES Around the World” family night as well as in an e-book created with Book Creator from pictures of their projects and a QR code provided a website that holds all of the class Google presentations.

Rating:Approaching – Explanation: This lesson falls within the approaching level on TIPC because students will construct questions on
their Central American country to guide their research. Students will select appropriate information sources and organize this
information to design their 3D designs and create a presentation.

groups and will accomplish a class assignment. Students will use digital tools such as Google to communicate with their group
members.

to questions while justifying their decision making with their group members while applying digital tools to solve and open ended
question.

an original book, presentation, and 3D design. Students viewed classmate projects while reflecting on their
own project to see how they can improve their work.
